Wolfenstein II Dev Sees Series As Trilogy

Wolfenstein II Dev Sees Series As Trilogy

One of the big announcements from E3 2017 was that a new Wolfenstein game is in development. According to creative director Jens Matthies, this may not be the last game in the modern Wolfenstein series--and Mecha-Hitler may one day return to the games.

Appearing on Giant Bomb's E3 live show, Matthies fielded a question about Mecha-Hitler, the imposing, robotic Nazi leader from some of the original Wolfenstein games. To answer, he revealed that developer Machine Games has hoped that the new Wolfenstein series would be three parts--hinting at a possible reemergence of the antagonist later on.

"We always envisioned this as a trilogy," he said. "If we get to make the third one--once we introduce Mecha-Hitler, you can't go up from there."

Bethesda announced the new Wolfenstein: The New Colossus with a new trailer that showcases Blazkowicz blasting and yes .. burning Nazis.America, 1961. Your assassination of Nazi General Deathshead was a short-lived victory. Despite the setback, the Nazis maintain their stranglehold on the world. You are BJ Blazkowicz, aka “Terror-Billy,” member of the Resistance, scourge of the Nazi empire, and humanity’s last hope for liberty. Only you have the guts, guns, and gumption to return stateside, kill every Nazi in sight, and spark the second American Revolution.

The Mission: Liberate America from the Nazis

Strap in for a heart-pounding journey as you fight the Nazi war machine on American soil. As BJ Blazkowicz, protect your family and friends, forge new alliances and face the demons of your troubled past as you rally pockets of resistance to overthrow the Nazi occupation.

The People: Rally the Resistance

Immerse yourself in a world brought to life by unforgettable characters who bring a new level of personality to the franchise. Reunite with your friends and fellow freedom fighters such as Anya, Caroline, Bombate, Set, Max Hass, Fergus or Wyatt, and befriend new characters such as Horton and Grace as you take on the evil Frau Engel and her Nazi army.

The Arsenal: Wield Devastating Guns and Future Tech
Blast Nazis to bits with high-tech weaponry such as the Laserkraftwerk, a multi-purpose, high-intensity laser weapon that can disintegrate enemies, or the Dieselkraftwerk, a rapid-fire, gas-powered grenade launcher that can devastate groups of enemies, or get up close and personal with advanced pistols, submachine guns, and hatchets. When you need a little more versatility, upgrade and dual-wield your favorite guns!

The Plan: Kill Every Nazi in Your Way

Everyone’s favorite pastime! Unleash your inner war hero as you annihilate Nazis in new and hyper-violent ways. Lock and load futuristic guns and discover BJ’s new set of abilities as you fight to free America. Regardless of your playstyle, invent all-new ways of stabbing, shooting, and killing Nazis.

Wolfenstein: The New Colossus is a first-person action shooter in development at Machine Games and is scheduled to launch on October 27, 2017, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

In the case of Wolfentstein it does make sense, because this was the premise from the very first installment - blasting nazis.

What's sad is that even more "realistic" games/movies, or that want to be somewhat historically accurate, will only go for the beaten cliche roads... and it's an even worse now than it was say 10-15 years ago with all the LGBT cuckification of the media (not like the jokers from "alt-right" are any better).

But yeah, will never happen. And if it does by a miracle, it will be bashed before it even comes to light.

This so much.

There's always another side to the story, whether you like it or not. Why aren't we allowed to explore that side in, let's say games? And I'm done with the whole LGBT thing and counter movements or whatever you call it. It's all just a sh!t show.

i agree that the simple premise of blasting nazis is wearing a bit thin - i dont know why we cant get a bit more creative thematically if studios are putting effort into crafting a coherent or compelling story these days to create a cinematic-like narrative (unlike wolf3d)

please take note that i didnt say the same about doom, because come on: destroying demons will never get old. meanwhile, regardless of the aforementioned bs, BJ is an instabuy for me...love all the wolfenstein games, every single one. game looks fairly impressive graphically, & idtech6 runs amazingly well on vulcan. looking forward to this.
