DRAM prices to rise in first quarter of 2021
DRAM prices will start to stabilize and even rise slightly in the first quarter of 2021. Currently, the memory market is divided into 40% for mobile devices , 34% for servers, 13% for PC consumption, 8% for DRAM consumers and the remaining 5% for graphics.
Among the main players is GDDR6 memory, used in all modern graphics cards, which will increase its price by between 5 and 10%. For its part, the DRAM market for mobile devices will remain stable, while for servers it could increase up to 5%.
In addition, the price of DDR4 DRAM for consumer PCs will remain "constant", which will imply an increase of 0 to 5% , while DDR3 RAM will increase its price between 3 and 8% due to its lower stock.

I'm on a Ryzen 7 1700, my 3200Mhz RAM isn't actually supported (I had it before I got the CPU) so I've been thinking about getting new RAM that works better in my system.
And if CPU prices drop, buy one to build a 2nd PC with my current RAM and some spare parts I have laying around.
Since the CPUs aren't getting any cheaper, I'll probably skip this altogether and wait for the next gen because -as you correctly pointed out- I don't really need it.
