DRAM Market Earnings Fall 32.5% in Q4 2022: Samsung, Micron, and SK hynix Suffer Sizeable Drops

A new report from TrendForce reveals that the global DRAM market experienced a significant 32.5% drop in earnings in the final quarter of 2022, as compared to the previous quarter.

The top three DRAM vendors, Samsung, Micron, and SK hynix, reported sizeable drops of 25.1%, 35.2%, and 41.2%, respectively. This decrease was caused by an inventory buildup and reduced demand, leading to a fall in prices rather than sales. The total DRAM revenue for the quarter was $12.2 million, and this drop in quarterly revenue is the worst since the 2008 crisis. Despite this, Samsung remained competitive and had the smallest percentage drop in this period among the main DRAM suppliers, with an income of €4.7 million. Meanwhile, SK hynix and Micron raised €2.8 million and €2.4 million, respectively, with a quarter-on-quarter drop of 35% and 41%. The three companies together account for 95% of the total DRAM market.
