Do NOT install: NVIDIA RTX LHR Unlocker is malware

Yesterday a new tool made rounds, in our forums a well. The RTX LHR BIOS v2 was designed to modify the BIOS of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 video cards and remove the limiters, allowing you to mine Ethereum at maximum speed.

The program merely serves to infect your PCs with malware. Nvidia set a speed limit on its cards called LHR to make them less desirable to miners (light hash rate). The publisher stated that he could modify the graphics card firmware and eliminate the speed limit, making the cards less appealing. The software would be compatible with the RTX 30 and RTX 3060. Mining speeds ranged from 49 Mh/s (RTX 3060) to 115 Mh/s (RTX 3080). (RTX 3060). (3080 RTX). Ti) depending on the plate model utilized in the procedure

So far, we only know that the 'LHRUnlocker Install.msi' program infects powershell.exe, but it doesn't immediately do anything harmful. The hoax was discovered swiftly, and the links on Sergey's GitHub page were deleted.

Too bad other GPU vendors don't deploy mining throttles. Just another way to express that they don't care about their gaming customers.

I'm kind of disappointed. I thought it was next level hacking, actually stealing your computational power etc.
This is merely old malware with a new sticker on it. Boring.
