Diablo IV Confirmed as Online-Only

Diablo IV Confirmed as Online-Only

Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 4 will not have an offline mode. Speaking during a panel held at BlizzCon 2019, lead designer Angela Del Priore addressed a question about whether the game can be played solo and whether it will support "a full offline mode."

"We are not going to support an offline mode," Del Priore replied. "But as I said before, nothing in DIablo 4 is going to require partying up. You can play solo and dungeons are private. Campain quest areas will [also] remain private."

So although you will need an internet connection for the game to work, you can still play solo if you don’t want to group up with people. Players who are already familiar with the franchise likely won’t be bothered by this, as the exact same structure has been in place in Diablo 3 for seven years. However, newcomers may not be aware of the fact that online play isn’t mutually exclusive from solo play, and may be deterred from playing if that isn’t made explicitly clear.

Online always is especially a thing if you're on vacation... not everywhere there's free WLAN.

Why would you go on a Gaming Vacation?

Might as well stay home then.

When visiting family that's 80+ years old they don't always have WLAN at home, no car, and I'd like to have something to do besides being bored after dusk.
On the other side, read two books in two weeks...

What feedback?
Also, I hope Blizz go heavy on cosmetic MTX, similar to what PoE are doing. If they have a gold mine from selling MTX they will be inclined to work on content for the game for years to come. This is why D3 had hardly any content updates over the years, because the game is not making money and you can't have a full team working on something that is not profitable. You can't simply have developers working on something day in day out and not bring any money in, that would be a suicide.
Best thing that can happen is they make sure they bring the $$$ in to work on the game for years after release.
I just told the world (and hopefully a few lurking ceos) what I would have preferred, but i guess we're not in kansas anymore.

Path of Exile is always online (drm) and have mtx sale messages popping up while playing, but then again it's free to play, though I don't like any form of drm.

Heck they even went so far as to having several "shop" buttons in the game hud and menu, where you simply can't hide from all of that nonsense.

I don't want to write Diablo IV off just because it's always online (drm), but it's sad to hear that Activision Blizzard haven't learned anything from feedback.

1) PoE doesnt have pop up messages.

2) its completely free 2 play.

3) they only sell cosmetic stuff, nobody forces anyone to buy them., also, we the community asked for the in game shop for the mtx.

4) i play since alpha, they have a loooooooooooooooooong term plan without bullshit.

I dont care if diablo is online only, so far i like what i hear about diablo 4 with expansions and the open world, i hope they deliver.
