The Dell S3422DWG of the S Series is aimed at gamers, with an UltraWide panel in high-contrast VA flavour. The monitor includes a polygonal stand base, wide neck and fairly thick bottom bezel. With dark matte plastic the material of choice.

The top and side bezels are dual-stage, including a slim hard outer component as well as a slender panel border flush with the rest of the screen. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick and buttons at the rear, running down the right side of as viewed from the front.

A 34″ 3440 x 1440 (21:9 UltraWide) VA panel is employed with 1800R curve – likely a Samsung SVA panel. A 144Hz refresh rate is supported, alongside Adaptive-Sync. Including AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, with a 48 – 144Hz VRR range plus LFC. A light matte anti-glare screen surface is employed, whilst a 3000:1 static contrast and 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles are specified. True 8-bit colour is supported, whilst a flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 90% DCI-P3 colour gamut. The monitor responds to HDR10 content via VESA DisplayHDR 400, sufficient for a basic HDR experience. This allows 10-bit colour processing to be used and for the colour gamut to be put to good use, but is quite limited in terms of brightness by HDR standards and doesn’t necessitate local dimming to enhance contrast. To create a more relaxing viewing experience, the ‘ComfortView’ Low Blue Light (LBL) setting is included.

A 2ms grey to grey response time is specified using the ‘Extreme’ response time setting, but as usual pay little attention to this figure. Alongside a 1ms MPRT response time using the ‘MPRT’ strobe backlight setting.. The rear of the screen features dark to medium grey matte plastics, with central ventilation slats. The Dell logo in the top central region is shiny with a slight ‘rainbow’ effect. The stand attaches centrally using a quick release mechanism and can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. The stand offers tilt and height (100mm or 3.94 inches) adjustment. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.4, 3.5mm audio output and 4 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (plus upstream). 2 of the USB ports plus a 3.mm headphone jack are located at the bottom of the screen, outside the main port area for easy access. Further details are available on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$600 USD (€470).
