Dell launches Ultrathin HDR 27-inch monitor (and it is Sexy!)

Dell has announced the S2718D, an Quad HD Ultrathin (6.9mm edge) monitor. The monitor offers 400 nits of brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 6ms response time. It also covers 99 percent of the sRGB color gamut, and offers a 178-degree wide viewing angle.

The monitor is QHD at a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 and supports high dynamic range (HDR) on it's IPS panel. The monitor supports USB Type-C connectivity for video, data, and power all in one cable, and a connectivity hub at the rear of the stand should keep things uncluttered. The Dell S2718D isn’t wall mountable. It has HDMI 2.0 and has a dedicated audio line out if you want to redirect the audio signal to a speaker or an amplifier. Interestingly enough, the USB C connector which can deliver up to 45W of power, which means that it should be able to charge the latest generation of laptops which come with USB C charging.

  • 178⁰/178⁰wide viewing angle / glossy
  • 99% sRGB color gamut, 16.7M colors
  • 400 cd/m2 / 1000:1 / 6 ms (gray to gray)
  • USB-C with power (up to 45W), HDMI 2.0, Audio line out

The monitor is expected to cost 699 USD, now please have a look at the photos (courtesy of engadget) and realize why I used the word sexy, it really is.

It does look nice, too bad i won't afford a gaming screen with HDR. Not surprising though considering it's new tech.

When the next best thing comes along then i'll be able to afford a 2k+/144hz/gsync/hdr screen.

I think that's the first monitor I've ever seen that has buttons on the base.
Loving all the monitor news. I hope they announce 4k 144hz GSync at CES. Or something similar.
