Delidded Core i7 8700K Processor Spotted

Delidded Core i7 8700K Processor Spotted

And the die is roughly 151mm2 in size, which is a good amount bigger compared to say the Core i7 7700K. Not at all surprising with two more cores eh?

The photo was just posted at hkepc on FB. Tomorrow reviews of the Core i7 8700K Processors will go live. The new six-core part will get 12 threads and an all-core boost up-to 4.3 GHz. The processor size itself is of course as wide as the "Kaby Lake," but the die simply is longer. Roughly 151 mm² with 126 mm² for "Kaby Lake."

  • 6 Cores / 12 Threads
  • 12MB L3 Cache
  • UHD Graphics 630 (GT2) IGP
  • Ratio Unlocked
  • 95W TDP

while I agree Loophole^...Hilbert stated 8700k can reach 5.0GHZ with proper cooling.

Samples are still topping 80°C though and I would prefer to keep my CPU at a lower temp for extended periods of time.

You don't need more cores...you need an SSD and maybe RAM if you use a lot.

This is the issue with most office machines. They usually have slower hard drives with low cache, and a lower amount of ram. My work Surface Book I don't have this issue, but the Surface book also a little bit more in cost compared to a budget office laptop.

@Agent-A01
my idea isnt unnecessary, maybe its execution.
a "few times" isnt "always", anyway.

and again, amd has a much smaller market share, makes multiple times less money and still produce a cpu without gpu part, while intel won't.
so the cost more money argument is BS.

anyone i know (friends/family/customers) that runs i7 or higher, has a dedicated gpu.
for the few times of troubleshooting i dont need a igpu.

how many times have you had a flat tire in your life??
yet almost all cars drive around with additional 20-50 lbs for a spare tire, wasting fuel and producing more emissions all year for the one time you need it,
instead of calling a friend/tow or have a bottle of fixaflat in the car.

It's always better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.

Your analogy is lacking any correlation to igp.

Is this igp sucking power, reducing OC etc?
Nope it's not.

I've used igp for troubleshooting when I didn't have any other pcie gpus for spare use.
Just because you'll never use it doesn't mean anyone else will NEVER use it.
