DDR3 chip prices drop again
DDR3 prices keep dropping and dropping and guess what? They dropped again, while NAND flash pricing remains stable.
Overall price trends for DDR3 revised down further in the spot market this week (Aug 15-19) with some brokers dumping products, according to inSpectrum. As of the noon session of August 19, spot pricing for white-branded 2Gb DDR3 fell 9% to US$0.71 and branded 2Gb DDR3 dropped by 3% to US$0.98, the research firm said.
While first-tier PC vendors recently announced plans to slash their 2012 revenue forecasts due to weak demand, some brokers decided to dump their DDR3 to the spot market, which made the overall price trend worsen, inSpectrum said.
