D-Link unveils the DSP-W115 Smart Plug, along with the new mydlink app, which enables home automation functions through integration with popular Smart home platforms Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

D-Link’s new DSP-W115 Smart Plug effortless integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant add the convenience of hands-free voice control of home appliances with popular Smart speakers such as Amazon Echo and Google Home. At the same time, IFTTT integration and automation with compatible mydlink cameras further extend the option to make homes more secure, giving users valuable peace of mind.

Commenting on the launch, Paul Routledge, D-Link UK and Ireland Country Manager said, “Over the past year we’ve seen consumers grow more comfortable with utilising smart home devices via Amazon Alexa and Google Home, and we anticipate seeing this accelerate throughout 2018. The new mydlink app opens up access to these services, ensuring that our customers can make full use of their capabilities, while remaining in control of their mydlink devices, through one simple interface.”

Key functions include:

  • Turn an appliance on and off from a Smartphone or tablet, at home or away with one tap.
  • Schedule appliances such as a lamp or heater to automatically turn on and off based on time and date.
  • Set up smart home automation with compatible mydlink devices and IFTTT.
  • Control by voice through Amazon Echo and Google Assistant smart speakers.
  • Push notification alerts users when products are turned on or off.
  • Connects to a home’s existing Wi-Fi network.

With its updated user interface, the mydlink app is now easier to use than ever. Shortcuts on the main screen allow users to access devices quickly and conveniently whilst the new ‘One-Tap’ function allows multiple devices, alerts and automations to be enabled or disabled with just a tap. Not only does the mydlink app provide detailed statistical information about how much power each appliance is using, but it also sends customised notifications to a user’s mobile device, informing users when it switches a device on or off, when a pre-set power consumption limit is exceeded, or if a device has been automatically deactivated due to overheating.
