Cyberpunk 2077  lead gameplay designer Andrzej Zawadzki is leaving CD Projekt RED. Zawadzki was employed by the game studio for almost eight years.

Zawadzki announced his departure on Twitter, saying, "After almost 8 years, my time at CDPR has come to an end. It's time for the new adventure. To every person I've met on the way – thank you :) It was an honor and pleasure. See you around :)"

Even those outside of the gaming world are likely familiar with Cyberpunk 2077‘s disastrous release. The RPG experienced several delays over the years, but it still wasn’t ready for launch back in December. CDPR released the game anyway, and players experienced problems from day one. Just one week later, CDPR issued an apology, offered refunds, and promised to fix the game-breaking glitches.

When death threats began circulating around Cyberpunk 2077's tumultuous development cycle, Zawadzki was one of the most vocal individuals from CDPR to respond, telling his followers that the threats were "absolutely unacceptable and just wrong," adding "we are people, just like you."

It seems Zawadzki is taking a break for the time being, telling fellow developer Kyle Rowley that he's taking "long holidays." He has not given a reason for his departure.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10th and received a lot of criticism for bugs and technical issues. All versions of the game are buggy, but the original PS4 and Xbox One had the most problems. Developer and publisher CD Projekt RED is among others sued by investors, who feel that the studio was not honest about the technical state of the game. The company is working to resolve the issues, and will release later this month Patch 1.2
