Custom Gigabyte 7970 spotted

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 01/02/2012 01:49 PM | source: | 0 comment(s)
Well, Juanuary 2012 certainly starts with a lot of new on the Radeon HD 7970.

These are the first pictures of a non-reference design Radeon HD 7970 graphics card. The product comes from Gigabyte, the GV-R797OC-3GD is a factory-overclocked graphics card, which makes use of a custom Ultra Durable VGA+ PCB by the company, and a triple-fan WindForce cooler. The Ultra Durable VGA+ PCB uses 2 oz copper layer for better electrical stability and heat distribution, ferrite-core chokes, low RDS (on) MOSFETs, hand-picked high-performance GDDR5 memory chips, etc.

There's no info just yet on the pricing, clock speeds and availibility.
