Creative Labs Forums Are Hacked - Closes Down Permanently

Last week somebody already made a mention of this our forums, but it seemed that the Creative labs forums were down for a while. Creative now send around word that their vBulletin forum software was hacked.

From my memory, this already happened a couple of time before. Creative now has closed down their forums indefinitely. Recent caches show that their forums had over 222,000 user accounts. When you visit the forums, it's apparent that Creative is not going back online with them.

Notice: We have discontinued our discussion forum permanently. For customer support, please visit www.creative.com/contactus. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding.

Users who try logging in, get an autoresponder that writes this:

Hi,

We were recently made aware of a partial data breach of the Creative Support Forum database.
The breached data comprises:

1. Email addresses
2. Forum user names
3. IP addresses
4. Encrypted passwords

To be on the safe side, we suggest that you review your online access to other websites where you use the same login details, and change them if necessary.

Meanwhile, we have taken steps to prevent further incursions and compromises to the Creative Support Forum.
As this is a standalone platform, it does not affect your access to the rest of the Creative accounts.
We regret for any inconvenience caused. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us, and we are actively taking steps to prevent such incursions from occurring in future.
In the meantime, do feel free to contact us by replying to this email if you have any questions.

Best regards,
Creative Labs Pte. Ltd.

I didn't get any notification from them about my account / password / data being hijacked, talking about common courtesy... :( at least they could have sent an email.

Why would anyone attempt to hack these forums in the first place? That's like robbing a mom and pop convenience store - all you're doing is ruining the day of a handful of people with very little yield.

I loved creative sound boards and I'm still looking for a dedicated soundboard to buy. But this makes me hold the buy longer and longer.
