And it's not an April 1st fools joke. Power supplies have a variety of sizes and capacities, but they all share the same general layout, which consists of a front panel with connectors and a back panel with a socket and an on/off switch. But things are shifting.

Corsair, seems to be betting on a totally different idea with its new Shift line, details of which have started to emerge online.

The next line of Corsair power supply will be 100% modular, as demonstrated in an image posted by the Twitter profile @momomo us, however the connectors for the cables are on one of its side. Ideally, the manufacturer would provide additional options to the consumer, making things like cable management simpler (depending on the cabinet).

Corsair has not commented on the rumor, which has been supported by a number of details. The new PSUs would be available in 850W, 1000W, and 1200W capacities, have 80 PLUS Gold certification, and feature a power cable system compatible with NVIDIA's RTX 40 graphics cards.

There will be a 140mm fan, Intel ATX3.0 certification, and twin 8-pin connection cable support on the new Shift series from Corsair, according to the source. These power sources may work in standard cabinets, but the corporation will probably also introduce new possibilities made with a side-wired supply in mind. The connecting cables may be uncomfortably close to the rear panel of many cabinets due to the unconventional design of modern power supplies. In contrast, the design, when coupled with the company's modular solutions, would make it much simpler to construct new PCs and implement improvements.

No new information on a potential release date for the Shift line has been made public by @momomo us as of yet. Given Corsair's recent reveal success, though, we shouldn't have long to wait for an official announcement on new goods.
