MSI and Japanese overclocker Shimizu have clocked an Intel Core i9-12900KS to 7.5 GHz, shattering the previous record for that CPU.

The Intel processor was combined with an MSI MEG Z690 Unify-X motherboard, which is a high-end Z690 variant. With the multiplier set to x74 and the speed set to 101.39 MHz, the frequency was 7503 MHz. The Intel Core i9-12900KS was overclocked to a maximum of 1.74 V (just two cores). The previous record was set on the same motherboard but by Taiwanese overclocker TSAIK, who was also using an MSI motherboard. In this scenario, the overclock was somewhat lower than the previous record (7.45 GHz), but only by one core and 1769 V, making the new record with less voltage and more cores even more astounding.

The Intel Core i9-12900KS is the best solution for 12th Generation Intel CPUs, slightly faster than the base i9-12900K by 200Mhz and 100Mhz in the cores' base frequency performance and efficiency, respectively, with a 5.5 GHz single-core boost, up 300 MHz above the base model.
