Core i9-12900K Single-Thread Performance Faster Than Ryzen 9 5950X (updated)

Yet another leak. The next Intel Core i9-12900K has just appeared in a single-thread synthetic benchmark conducted by CPU-Z, in which the processor achieved an impressive 825 points.

That's 27 percent higher than the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X with 648 points and 20 percent faster than the previous generation Core i9-11900K with 682 points.  Later this year, the Z690 chipset is likely to be introduced, along with the 12th Generation Intel Core family, with the i9-12900K rumored to cost $605 USD.

Update: and test another leak. While the single threaded score still tops the AMD Ryzen 5950X's basic single core score, it falls short of the multi-threaded result. Makes sense as eight large and eight little CPU cores cannot outperform AMD's 16 large cores of course. Intel has 24 threads to AMD's 32. Apart from that, no additional information on the Core i9-12900K was revealed.

even without doing this trick, another thing pushing my own comments about stopping to care about the benchmarks used in news and reviews, they are a crap representation of real life performance

I have screenshots of CPU-Z taken after various tuning sessions and single core ranges anything from 591 to 646

Single core is still a good indicator since most normal software runs single threads for each separate task most of the time so the faster the better in most cases. And if they do use multiple threads then each will be sped up by single core performance. A faster multicore score just means the faster single core x number of cores.

Maybe it's faster, but it he same time generates more hear and it's watts like crazy :D

Can't help think they're leaking single core scores as the multi-core scores would tank due to thermal throttling...

There has been no reason to upgrade faster cpu for ages for normal users and gamers. Unless wants 1000fps in sc.. what a waste ;)
