Core i9 12900K beats Ryzen 9 5950X in Ashes of Singularity by 40%.
The Core i9-12900K (Alder Lake), a 16-core, 24-thread processor, has been tested in Ashes of the Singularity as spotted by Twitterer BenchLeaks. Since dedicated quality presets were utilized, other CPUs can be compared.
A 1440p high preset on the i9-12900K gets an average CPU frame rate of 146.6 fps, 40% more than the Ryzen 9 5950X's 104.6. Both processors were tested with an RTX 3080 and 64 GB of RAM, but the card clock speeds are unknown. So we don't know if the benchmarks were conducted with (heavy) overclocks.
With a grain of salt or two in mind, these stats could give a rough idea of Alder Lake's gaming performance. On October 27 and 28, Intel InnovatiON we expect Intel to present its next desktop CPUs, with additional benchmarks surely to follow.

It’s good that the race is still on , very exciting times hopefully the availability will be good .
I hope that intel manages some serious jump in performance this time after years of negligible increases . 40 % would be absolutely amazing but I think even 20% would be very good and 15% acceptable .
Will this be the 10 nano meters process ?

7079 7080 I'm happy with this, new rig delivered - running some tests on the 5950X.

idk about that with the core count esp heavy threaded loads - where all the threads have equal demand.
in simulations, i can easily see a win for Intel without them playing games.
but in the real time = money world i sincerely doubt it and it remains to be seen.
my most expensive rig is a DAW and i have zero anxiety over my 5950x.
and, i have had a s.o.t.a. DAW since Intel X79.
when real change happens, i make a change but i've heard this song and dance before.
With that rig, tbh you don't need to upgrade for a while.
