Core i9-10900K can boost to 5.3 GHz, more specifications of 10th Gen Core Comet Lake-S leak
One more Intel related post today as a heavy on impact series of slides just leaked including information on the Core i9-10900K CPU with 10 cores and 20 threads. Indeed 125W but it clocks at 3.7 GHz base towards a 5.2 GHz in boost. A new feature called Velocity Boost will unlock clock speeds up to 5.3 GHz, but only for two SKUs: 10900K and 10900 non-K.
The information leaked at Informatica Cero, and shows Intel Comet Lake-S Gen 10 to arrive in 2020 again using the refined 14nm fabrication node. This range includes the flagship Intel Core i9-10900K. This processor has a Turbo Boost frequency of 5.2GHz and also is listing a 5.3GHz thanks to what is called Intel Thermal Velocity Boost technology. The processor is tagged once again at a TDP of 125W, 10 cores, and 20 threads and a 20MB cache.
Further down on the listing you will find the i7-10700K. This processor would replace the i9-9900K and consists of 8 cores / 16 threads with a base frequency of 3.8GHz and a Turbo Boost of 5.1GHz. It also has a TDP of 125W and supports DDR4 memory at 2933MHz natively.
And finishing the K processors, we see the i5-10600K, which comes with 6 cores and 12 threads with a base frequency of 4.1GHz and a boost of 4.5GHz for all cores. These CPUs will rely on the LGA1200 Socket (Not Confirmed) and will use the new Intel 400 Series chipset. As new, this chipset supports more Cores (10), supports Intel Wi-Fi 6 and Intel Rapid Storage. No exact date of release of these CPUs is known but rumored is April.

looks you never used this to compare, maybe you want see a third party numbers for example

Strange. I'm a computer engineer and i upgraded my core i5 two years ago mostly because of development and testing on virtualization. It was slow as hell specially android. It was an older i5 than the 9600k obviously but still i'm surprised to see a core i5 scores so good on this test.

You would have asked me 10 years ago i would have been enthusiast at this news.
But nowadays, using my computer all day long with it sitting on my desk, i want comfort. Performant product with minimal cooling noise.
Having tinnitus starting over last year makes noise my top priority.
I'm exactly opposite. I have really severe tinnitus, have had it for several decades now.. I love noisy fans, the drone helps keep me sane the buzzing is so bad. I leave my central air blower on 100% of the time so that drone is all thru the house. If the power fails and I get silence it feels like my head is going to explode from the the extremely high pitched whistling from the tinnitus.

@Margalus
Its usually because of less oxygen getting to inner ear parts.not sure if you smoke/drink/high blood pressure/allergies,
those affect it the most, so its good to get that controlled/minimized (loratadine/cetritizine)
I do see improvement taking 3-6mg melatonin 20min before going to bed.

amazing, i will wait to buy one
i see with my own eyes a i9 9900k vs ryzen 3700x (my friends had both) and ryzen 3700x are really weak and i9 is soo stronger but heat like a hell
so i choose wait next generation
You are comparing a 325$ USD cpu to a 500$ USD cpu i mean really? That's a 175$ price difference ... hey a 5700xt is stronger than a gtx 1660 Super ... sigh ...
The 9900k is not so stronger than the 3900x. It is stronger in games. It is weaker is many workloads. Overall two good cpus depending on what you do.
