Core i7 965 XE Being Phased Out Too

by Thorsten Finck on: 05/10/2009 03:30 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Just two days ago, we reported about the Core i7 940 from Intel being phased out, and today the world's largest semiconductor company announced that they are even going to phase out the 3.2 GHz Core i7 965 Extreme Edition, as well. Compared to the Core i7 940, the Core i7 965 XE is following a very similar schedule and is going to be available for order only until September 4, 2009.

This was somewhat expected though, since the two follow-ups, the Core i7 950 and 975, are already close to being released - if recent rumors are true. Possibly even before Computex, one of the largest computer and technology fairs in the world which takes place June 2 - 6 in Taipei, Taiwan, the 3.06 GHz and 3.33 GHz clocked "replacements" are going to deliver increased performance, as it is very likely that they are going to be priced closely to their phased out counterparts.
