Core i7-5775C Priced at $479.99

Core i7-5775C Priced at $479.99

Broadwell based Desktop Core i5-5675C and Core i7-5775C will be available during the launch of Computex in the first week of June. These processors already have been spotted in OEM, but for retail they are now listing in price engines. The Core i7-5775C is however in pre-order for $479.99 .

Broadwell based ICs will get four cores, IGP wise the Iris Pro 6200 and JEDEC DDR3 1600 MHz support. And again all models will get a 65W TDP, which is lower compared to Haswell with its 84W/95W TDP. Versions with the 'C" extension are the desktop LGA 1150 models, the 'R" models get a BGA socket. The C models will come with an unlocked multiplier (in the past that was K or X model). The models will get 4MB L3 cache but no hyper-threading for the Core i5 model. Check out the following overview I have compiled for you.

The new Broadwell SKus will be compatible with the Series 9 motherboards and Socket 1150 and are released in the retail channel on June 1st (NA, EMEA), and June 2nd (APAC). The i7-5775C and the i5-5675C are quad-core chips.

Earlier this week we already have seen the flagship SKU overclock to 4.8 Ghz on air cooling. The Broadwell processors are listed on several etailers such as NCIX. And hey, pre-order prices .. ok ? Of course they will be lower once launched.

Everyone says this new CPU is comparable to a 2500K and up (somewhat).. How much better is the 2500 and 2600 vs my 920 @ 3.8? Am I being left in the dust for CPU power?

I'ts hard to describe but the jump from i7 920 (with an X58 Rampage II board) to the 2500k (with a Z68 board) was very noticeable for me when I did do it a few years ago.

Now I am rocking my Sabertooth Z77 mobo with a 3770k and see no need to upgrade - despite having a serious itch to do so!

Sandy did a big jump from Nehalem. Until then all we saw are minor improvements not really relevant for a gamer so with Broadwell looks like nothing will change.

Skylake on the other hand looks kinda promising.

Maybe Intel feels bad for AMD so they priced this chip so high that people will start buying AMD again.

Wow... Broadwell for Desktop will fail. Who should pay that ammount of money for a quad core CPU when Skylake is around the corner more or less?

Why so much people drama about the price??? it's just 10$ more than actual i7 unlocked (btw you can see the effect of the psychologic price :) 10$ less and no one would have done drama lol)

more seriously, upgrating from actual K to this is a waste of money as we change socket in a few, it will be interesting if you need a new rig right now :pc1: or if you want to update from a celeron or pentium (hmmm celeron on Z97 :wanker :) to something more "with balls"... but i don't know if they shoudn't wait and buy new socket mobo/cpu combo when in shop.

And about the price it will get down after a few... (as always with intel).

AMD do very good job on low/medium segment and Intel can't compete with it :)

but on med/high... lol
