Core 9th Gen Desktop processors to get support for 128GB DDR4

An interesting find, previously on your Core processor series you'd max out at 64 GB of memory that you can installed and use. It seems that for the Core 9000 series this limitation has been moved towards 128GB.

Word reached us through Ian over at Anand who noticed that the latest HP announcements for their desktop products are actually listing 32GB towards 128GB (expandable). After a few emails and some confirmation, it has been confirmed by Intel, 128GB is supported and that means we'll be seeing high-density memory soon becoming the norm.

-- Intel -- The new 9th Gen Intel Core processors memory controller is capable of supporting DDR4 16Gb die density DIMMs which will allow the processors to support a total system memory capacity of up to 128GB when populating both motherboard memory channels with 2 DIMMs per Channel (2DPC) usi

ng these DIMMs. As DDR4 16Gb die density DIMMs have only recently become available, we are now validating them, targeting an update in a few months’ time.

Typically only 64 GB is supported, and most people use 8GB DIMMs. With the new value, you could aim for 4x 16GB. Of course, I would advise you to wait until DDR4 memory DRAM prices go down first ;) Recently we've also seen double capacity (stacked) full hight memory, these could be released ass 32GB modules even.  Only Core 9000 series processors will support this, that means the Core i9-9900K, the Core i7-9700K, and the Core i5-9600K.
