The FALD (Full Array Local Dimming) Mini LED lighting on the Cooler Master GP27-FUS strives to give a dynamic HDR experience with 576 dimming zones.
A 27-inch 3840 x 2160 ('4K' UHD) IPS-type screen is used, specifically an AUO AHVA panel. The display supports a refresh rate of 160Hz as well as Adaptive-Sync – including AMD FreeSync Premium – and is projected to have a VRR range of 48 – 160Hz. A static contrast ratio of 1000:1 is suggested (10,000:1 with local dimming), along with 178°/178° viewing angles and true 8-bit color. A 576-zone QD Mini LED backlight with no flickering delivers a typical maximum brightness of 600 cd/m2 (1200 cd/m2 HDR peak) and a color gamut of 99 percent Adobe RGB, 97 percent DCI-P3, and 83 percent Rec. 2020. A sRGB preset with a custom DeltaE 2 is also available. The monitor supports HDR10 content and makes good use of its powerful Mini LED backlight in accordance with the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 standard. The large color gamut works well with 10-bit color processing, together with high brightness output and local dimming to increase contrast.
The monitor is supported by a medium-dark silver pedestal with a hexagonal'ring' style base. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a thin panel border that is flush with the rest of the screen and a thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On-Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick positioned in the back, to the right of the front, as seen from the back. The screen also has a Low Blue Light (LBL) setting for a more pleasant viewing experience, and a 1ms grey to grey reaction time is expected. However, this criterion is largely ignored. The included stand is held in place by a quick-release mechanism in the center and can be removed to expose 100 x 100mm VESA mounting holes. The tilt, height, and swivel of the stand are planned to be adjustable. RGB LED lighting is also integrated at the rear, as is extensive use of matte black material. The connections are horizontally aligned and include DP 1.4 (with DSC), two HDMI 2.1 ports (specified at the maximum 48Gbps), USB-C (90W PD), and two USB 3.0 ports with upstream. Two x 2W speakers are included for basic sound output. With the full bandwidth of HDMI 2.1, the monitor should be able to support '4K' UHD @120Hz for modern gaming consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox One X.
