Computex - ASUS working on X58 Lucid Hydra based mobo

Over at Computex ASUS is following MSI, by releasing a motherboard equipped with Hydra chipset. Hydra allows you to mix NVIDIA and ATI graphics cards on one motherboard, though with limited compatibility.

Romanian site Lab501have been able to grab a few early snapshots of what ASUS will show this year. Spotted there is X58-based motherboards, one that adopts the now-famous Lucid Hydra chip. Part of the ASUS Republic of Gamers series, the new board will enable consumers to mix Intel's high-end Core i7 processors with graphics cards from both NVIDIA and ATI.

Details lack, from the looks of it, the board is only featured with two PCI-e X16 graphics slots, which means the number of combinations available with this board is rather limited. Still, we're pretty sure you'll get the ASUS ROG Connect feature that is available for all of ASUS's latest high-end boards, as well as a number of other technologies, specifically tailored to meet the requirements of computer and overclocking enthusiasts.

Should you like to learn a thing or two on hydra, we reviewed the X58 Hydra Fuzion MSI board earlier this year, check that article here.
