Computex 2017: Cooler Master Presents C700P - A New Modern Cosmos In the Works

Computex 2017: Cooler Master Presents C700P - A New Modern Cosmos In the Works

Cooler Master is set to release a new Cosmos chassis, the C700P as you will see in the photos below the fold is rather unique in its design. The casing upholds the traditional Cosmos look and feel, yet is modernized to the max.

What you will notice below is a completely new concept. It is good to see Cooler Master expanding into what they are really good at, divers chassis from top to bottom. This one belongs in the upper category. In Q3/Q4 this C700P might already hit the stores for roughly 299 euros. And yes, that is 50 bucks cheaper compared to the 25th Anniversary edition we tested last week.

Both sides get Tempered glass panels that open up like doors from the front side. The left side tempered glass panel has two curved bends. Now before you go all 'oh no more LEDs', yes there is some very strong activity in that department on the C700P. However, I am a skeptic much like you guys, but on this chassis, man it does look beautiful. Cooler Master is going to offer all kinds of RGB, of course regulated and configurable, including the ones on the C700P.

What also jumps out is the shielding, again this is a protoype of the product and it is not finished. But basically anything can be covered up allowing you to display what you want to display.

Honestly, at the 299 bucks marker (which is a lot of money for the chassis) this might be a huge hit if you like the genre, but it's a Cosmos, what's not to like? The photos below let me reiterate again, are the prototype and are subject to change and more refinement.

The original Cosmos was a terrible design. A huge shell with no thought given to airflow paths, so cooling was poor. As it was an obvious turkey, CM soon released a revised version... but the mere fact that they could put out something like that in the first place cost them all credibility with me.

OTOH, I am pretty happy with the CM-690 I bought back then. It all means that with anything CM - wait for the reviews. They can do good work and they can produce junk.
