Computex 2017: Cooler Master Fanless PSUs Keyboards and Headsets
Over at Computex Cooler Master next to its chassis and cooling products also had some other things on display worth taking a closer look at.
On display of course the entire Masterwatt power supply series with many revisions and models. The 80Plus Platinum Maker are the expensive ones and offered in fully modular 1200 and 1500 Watt versions. And then the more regular (light) models have capacities of 450, 550, 650 en 750W (80Plus Bronze certified). For these model Cooler master thickened the cables, preventing heat build up, all these get a five year warranty. There will be a new MWE series as well, these will be the more affordable and silent series most of them with a bronze certification.
We need to talk a bit about the MWS 500P, this will be a 80Plus Platinum certified PSU that is 100% fanless. That’s this thus is a passive power supply. Cooler master claims the unit would run at roughly 40 degrees C. Typically what you see with passive units is say a 800 Watt model rated at 400 Watts for passive usage. That means you take a hit in efficiency right? The MWS 500P however runs way above that with a much higher load rating, e.g. it is a Platinum certified model (high efficient model). Prices and details on a release date are TBA.
One last PSU model I’d like to show you is the MGX700B, this one fits into a more trendy theme, RGB. Cooler Master this MGX 700B unit which sports RGB LEDs. Colors and wires then, CM is working with modders to produce pre-sleeved cable for its MasterWatt line of power supplies, see photos.
One other topic I like to talk about with everything Cooler Master are peripherals like keyboards and mice. Cooler Master already has history with their keyboard, added is a new mechy with Omron switches and a new mouse that draws attention.
First up is the MasterSet 120 MS120, this is a key board with RGB and accompanying mouse with RGB. The switches are memchanical, meaning they feel close to mechanical and a produce a bit more of that familiar clock sound. CM claims the new keys will last 50m hits. You can store lighting profiles with software. The mouse three zone based mouse is based on Pixart 3050, I hoverer missed the DPI level value. This kit is going to cost roughly 100 euros, which is a terrific price.
There was also a real RGB mechanical keyboard on display, based on Cherry MX switches. The unit has RGB lighting, detachable wrist rest as well as RGB LED key but also a bar at the frontside of the board, this is the MasterKeys MK750
Two new mice were on display: the MasterMouse MM520/MM530. Both are for right-handers and have been fitted with Pixart 3360 optical sensors. The primary difference between the two is the design, as the MM520 is designed for claw grip users while the MM530 is for palm grip users. The Omron switches can stand roughly 20 million clicks. Cooler master adds versions of the MasterPulse Pro and white headsets as well, for that I like to refer you to the photos.

The MM520 might just be my next mouse. I'm currently using a Xornet II and while the ergonomics and size are pretty much perfect(for me), the components(the switches in particular) could be better. It looks like the MM520 is going with the same philosophy but with better components(I hope).
