Colorful Shows Motherboard with integrated Nvidia GTX 1070 GPU

Colorful Shows Motherboard with integrated Nvidia GTX 1070 GPU

Here's something new, Colorful and Chaintech have shown a motherboard on Computex which houses a GP104-200 Nvidia GPU. That's the GTX 1070 for you. The motherboard seems to be a budget B150 Intel motherboard for compact gaming systems.

The motherboard has no PCIe slots available. But directly at that spot there is a GPU integrated on the PCB, along with GDDR5 memory chips from Samsung. From the markings on the GPU can be seen that it is the same chip as the GPU of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070. The board is codenamed 'B150-GP104', which seems to make it clear that it is a motherboard with Intel B150 chipset and socket 1151 for Skylake processors. There are two SODIMM slots available for memory. Courtesy for this spot goes out to TheLostSwede.

Colorful as well showed a motherboard with integrated GTX 980 GPU and the manufacturer has a version of a GTX 960 GPU in the works as well. We doubt a little  that such motherboards will reach the market for consumers, we tkink more along the lines of small form factor game computers. The size of the motherboard also differs from standard form factors such as m-ITX.

VR backpack systems and Steam machines anyone ?

Why does the board look like something from a 20 year old machine you found in a basement? lol

Sounds like a fantastic idea for Steam Machines. Without a discrete PCIe GPU, this saves a lot of physical space.

Because why not.

It'll cost more, and you lose the GPU if the board goes outside of the warranty period.

Add an extended warranty, and it isn't too bad.

Quite interesting I would say.

Paired with a 6400/6500 or 6600/6700 non k and that GTX 1070 in a cool mITX and you got A BEASTLY mITX gaming machine!

HTPCs, 'entry' or 'light' gaming, probably a couple of interesting options there. It will be a niche product, but I might see myself interested in it too, down the road.

I don't personally see myself interested but John next door might be for hassle free gaming machine.

This thing has potential since most mITX/Gaming machines are for laughs.

Good point on the warranty. 3y would be a minimum imho with optional extension up to 5y.

Slim tower mITX gaming machines are kind of for laughs. But there are some bulkier mITX cases that are plenty suitable for serious gamers. I intend to do a mITX build for my next gaming rig. But the thing about that is it will be strictly gaming. Most people around here use their gaming PCs for everything else, such as work, internet browsing, or other forms of media. Some people use them as servers. But when you're focusing on strictly gaming, you don't need much. 8GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, a modular PSU, a hefty GPU, and an overclocked quad core CPU is all you really need. All of that can effortlessly fit in a mITX case. These days, discrete sound cards and DVD drives are relatively useless. I don't need wifi, and when you're only focused on gaming you can usually get by with just 4 USB ports.
