As the highly awaited GeForce RTX 4060 Ti graphics upgrade is fast approaching, board partners keep unveiling new RTX 3060 Ti GPU variations. Renowned for its creative designs, Colorful has reinvigorated its Colorfire brand, previously exclusive to Radeon GPUs, and incorporated it into the NVIDIA Turing series.
Their newest offerings, the 'Vitality' and 'Cool Mint' collections, showcase striking pure pink and mint-hued graphics cards. These designs cater to mid-range SKUs, including the RTX 2060, GTX 1650, GTX 1660, and the later RTX 3060 (Ti) and 3050 models. In late 2021, Colorful launched its NVIDIA Ampere architecture lineup, which was believed to be their final update. However, they have surprised the industry with a new addition today—a revamped RTX 3060 Ti variant featuring GDDR6X memory, bolstering an already formidable lineup.
When compared to its GDDR6 counterpart, the RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6 "Cool Mint" offers a higher TDP (225W vs. 200W) and necessitates two 8-pin power connectors instead of one. Clock speeds remain consistent, with both models adhering to NVIDIA's default settings. This new version delivers improved performance and a distinctive aesthetic for gamers and enthusiasts seeking a powerful and visually appealing GPU.
Intriguingly, the announcement of the new GDDR6X model comes amid rumors of a potential discontinuation of the 3060 Ti series. According to Board Channels reports, these SKUs are anticipated to be phased out within several months, with GPU production already ceased. However, this discontinuation may only impact the original GDDR6 SKUs, allowing board partners to keep selling the updated GDDR6X variants throughout Q2 and Q3. Colorful's recent release suggests they are ready to adapt to these changes and meet the shifting demands of the market.
