Since AMD launches a whole new GPU family consisting of mid range and high end cards, the R9 290X is the leader of the pack but not the only exciting launch this period. Two weeks ago we have launched the brand Radeon R9 290X. This new top of the range card already proved to be the absolute king in terms of raw computing power and game performance. It’s clear that the Radeon R9 290X is a better proposition than its direct competitors in almost any way.

May we have your attention for the Radeon R9 290!

Just like the R9 290X the new R9 290 delivers amazing Ultra HD performance and a rich feature set powered by AMD’s Graphics Core Next architecture featuring exclusive innovative features like: AMD ZeroCore Power, AMD PowerTune and AMD Eyefinity technologies. The R9 290X offers all this at the very competitive price point of $ 549, however the new R9 290 featuring similar technologies will be offered at an even more attractive price of $ 399!

Let us give you some technical details; the R9 290 has a 28nm Hawaii Pro GPU running at dynamic clock speeds of up to 947MHz and features 6.2 billion transistors and 2560 stream processors. The compute performance is a more than impressive 4.9 teraFLOPS. Because the R9 290 has a full 4096 MB of GDDR5 memory combined with a 512 memory bit interface it has an incredible and record breaking memory bandwidth of up to 320 GB/s. The industry leading 4k performance of the Radeon R9 290X and R9 290 is a direct result of these impressive memory specs. With the R9 290X and 290 you really are prepared for this next evolution in PC Gaming!

What performance can be expected from the Club 3D Radeon R9 290? Given the above mentioned specs it’s obvious that the R9 290 offers massive performance in any recent and upcoming game title and popular benchmarks. 3D Mark is well known for offering comprehensive benchmark programs to measure GPU performance. 3D Mark Fire Strike is their latest benchmark which really stresses any GPU to the limits so it’s a great indicator for overall GPU performance.

In 3D Mark Fire Strike the Radeon R9 290 scores a whopping 9039 points, easily outperforming the competition by a significant margin.

Of course there are more features that deserve special attention here.
Since the good old Radeon x800s from 2005 AMD cards feature CrossFireX technology, enabling two or more cards to be connected and work together offering you supreme frame rates. The technology of course has been further developed since those years. With the new Radeon R9 cards crossfire can be used without the need of a hardware strap. Your GPU’s will work seamlessly together through the PCI-e slots in the motherboard. Nowadays Crossfire is so refined that the scalability in many game titles is up to 2x. This means you get up to double the performance if you add a second card in your system!

AMD Eyefinity is also a feature that has been around for a while but is getting more brilliant every new generation. With AMD Eyefinity you can easily add multiple monitors enabling an incredibly immersive graphic and computing experience. With the new R9 290 you can easily connect three monitors by using any of the DisplayPort, DVI or HDMI output on the card. If you require even more monitors you can easily connect up to 6 by using a Club 3D Multi Stream Transport (MST) Hub. That’s right, with a Club 3D MST Hub every Radeon R9 card is Eyefinity 6 capable!

AMD True Audio is a brand new feature that is offered on the Radeon R9 290 and 290X. It’s a game changing technology that offers game developers a fully programmable audio pipeline, enabling a level of detail and immersion never seen before. It fundamentally redefines the nature of a graphics card and is a revolution in the way sound is experienced in PC games.

If you are looking to upgrade your graphics card or building a completely new gaming rig; let the new Radeon R9 290 be the star of your set-up in the years to come!
