If you have not done so, now might be a good time to install the May 2020 Windows update. It has been available for a few weeks and brings dynamic storage improvements that reduce the RAM memory consumption of Win32 applications. That will benefits multiple applications, including Google Chrome.

The particular feature is called "SegmentHeap" and is widely implemented into Chromium, it allows for a ~27% reduction in RAM memory consumption. Google will soon implement this feature in its browser. An engineer from the Chrome team pointed out that adding support to “SegmentHeap” will allow users of the 2004 version of Windows 10 to “ save hundreds of MB in the browser and network service processes. Results will vary widely, with the biggest savings being on machines with many cores. ”

This engineer also remarked that this feature will not be implemented in Google Chrome until Google compiles a version of the browser with the Windows 10 Build 19041.0 SDK. The problem is that the SDK is currently inaccessible due to "mysterious" compilation errors .

So it is not known when these improvements would come to Google Chrome, but likely it won't be long.
