Windows 11 will be offered as a free update for supported computers. The good news is that Microsoft makes available for download a new tool called "PC Health Check" that allows users to check if their PCs can be updated to the new operating system.

In addition, the company also published the minimum system requirements for Windows 11: Dual-core 64-bit processor at least 1 GHz; 4 GB of RAM; 64 GB of free disk space; 9-inch screen, resolution of at least 1366 x 768; UEFI, Secure Boot, and TPM 2.0 support; DirectX 12 and WDDM 2.x compatible GPU.

  • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with 2 or more cores in a supported 64-bit processor or system on a chip (SoC)
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • Storage: Storage device of 64 GB or more
  • Graphics card: DirectX 12 / WDDM 2.x compatible graphics
  • Screen: > 9 ″ with HD resolution (720p)
  • Internet connection: Windows 11 Home requires a Microsoft account and Internet connectivity

As you can see from the minimum requirements, Microsoft apparently will not offer a 32-bit version of Windows 11. Fortunately, users will be able to continue running 32-bit applications on the 64-bit operating system without major problems. To make a comparison with the minimum requirements for Windows 10, the 64-bit version of the system requires at least 2GB of RAM, 32GB of free disk space, a screen with a resolution of at least 800 x 600 and a DirectX 9 compatible GPU. and WDDM 1.0.

To use the “PC Health Check” tool, you can download it from this link and, after installing it, click the Check Now button to see if the PC can be upgraded to Windows 11. Verification is practically instantaneous. If your PC is compatible, they will see a message like the one below saying that it meets all the requirements for Windows 11.
