CES: ATI brings Eyefinity to laptops

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 01/10/2010 02:57 PM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Of course ATI has a booth at CES as well. Not much going on there really, but one thing certainly caught my attention. Do you guys remember the XGP laptop, which stands for eXternal Graphics Platform we recently reviewed ? Well, based on that very same concept (Amilo GraphicsBooster).

Right here on CES ATI is demonstrating a new laptop from Acer with an XGP connector. The Acer Ferrari One is something in-between a netbook and a notebook. With an XGP connector, this laptop is connected to a Broadway XGP box. The box has one DVI port, three DisplayPorts, an HDMI port, and two USB ports. Inside the box is an ATI Mobility Radeon 5870 graphics card form which we do not know the precise specs. But based on the series 5000 technology you can have a lot of fun as it supports three high-resolution monitors. Agreed, a little extreme .. but nice for a professional presentation on multiple monitors alright. Check out the photo's we took.
