CEO of AMD, asserts that the Ryzen 7000 launch would not be bothered by supply concerns
AMD has officially announced the Zen 4-powered Ryzen 7000 processors. They'll be available on September 27, but as with so many new product launches, particularly from AMD, there will be supply concerns.
AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su has promised fans that there would be plenty of CPUs available at launch. Lisa Su answered a question at the event about the industry's current supply chain challenges and whether this would result in a limited quantity of Ryzen 7000 CPUs being released next month.
“It is true that if we look back 18 months, we had capacity or logistics limitations,” said the CEO. “From an AMD point of view, we have dramatically increased our manufacturing capacity , in terms of wafers, substrates and back-ends. So with our release of Zen 4 we don't expect to have any restrictions on supplies."
"Logistically, things are taking a little longer to get to different regions right now, which is why we have this event at the end of August and will go on sale on September 27; one of the reasons for that time, frankly, is to get the product to all regions so that people who really want to buy can do so."
The four Ryzen 7000 processors will be released on September 27, with the top of the range leading the way, the Ryzen 9 7950X (16 cores/12 threads) for $699, the Ryzen 9 7900X (12 cores/24 threads) for $549, the Ryzen 7700X (8-core/16-thread) for $399, and the Ryzen 5 7600X (6-core/12-thread) for $299.
With lower demand and higher cost of ownership for the new platform (CPU needs new motherboard and memory)in these months, we believe AMD will be able to provide CPUs to the entire market; also the market is not in a favorable place.

That`s cool.
That means that i`m the enthusiast on a budget!

And altough i can afford a new mid range system, i`m always thinking to myself if it`s worth because my current system is still good enough and because there`s nothing on the horizon that requires more firepower.
Decisions, decisions...

No problem here but big problems with having to buy a new platform and prices (announced) for AM5 motherboards are out of line and DDR5 price is also very high at this moment...
There are also problems with cooling - some say that existing AM4 cooling solution will work, others like EK say that you need a new mounting system () so if you invested in a custom loop or high end closed loop you have to pay again or you are at the mercy of the cooling solutions manufacturers to provide an adapter - maybe..
I don't know - from the news 7950X seems like a real beast but with this economy and other more important expenses (prices for gas and energy up the roof here and winter is coming...) I think that I will keep my 5950X and skip the 7000 generation - let's see the 8000 - by that time if they keep the same socket prices for motherboards and RAM will be maybe more decent.
1) AM5 mobos prices are the same as every other platform. marketing decides to always announce the highest end product first.
X670E is totally unnecessary for the majority of enthusiasts - yet they are priced no more than a MSI "ACE" or "GODLIKE", or an ROG Maximus
X670 on the other hand is beefy enough to OC (at the level of most of us) and has enough connectivity to satisfy 90% of the enthusiast market. - these boards cost up to the same as X570
the B series is playing the same game with an "E" variant. what's changed is the marketing of mobos as AMD decided to make the BOARD the HEDT component instead of board, chipset, and cpu
2) EK is the only party talking smack about new mounting hardware. i run custom loops and i KNOW i'll have zero difficulty mounting my Heatkiller IV

Exactly, i bought a new Civic Type R GT and it sits in my garage almost unused because i have a perfectly good E Class Merc that i use to go to work in, If anything i should have bought a scooter due to the traffic

But as ive mentioned elseware on this forum, im single, my kids have grown up, ive no mortgage or personal dept, a good job in a tax free country and 30 year investments that are all now maturing. I have no vices and as i live alone my gas and electricity bill are almost non-existent ha ha ha ha. Ok the pool isnt cheap to run. My point being that even though i can afford to buy every and all the latest kit, i wont have my pants pulled down, why pay £2k for a 4k 32" monitor when i found a great MSI one for half that, same with my 6900xt over a 3090Ti, or keeping my 3800x even though DCS is putting it under strain now in complex AI heavy missions.
PS, i only fly business to the UK and back due to the extra baggage i can have, 64kg is a lot of PC hardware

Thats something i was concerned about, i have a great CPU block and didnt fancy changing it for another expensive one, il buy a cheaper one that will follow my current MOBO/CPU/RAM into a new build just for video work.

Maybe he`s an enthusiast on a budget.
Not everyone can or wants to buy a new platform everytime a new CPU is released..
3800x and 6900xt, both in a custom loop, MSI 32" 4k screen and £1000 worth of flight sim controls ha ha, a room in my house just for my PC stuff. And as soon as its out il buy a Ryzen 9-7900X and whatever replaces the 6900xt, then an extreme edition MOBO and 64gb of fast RAM. So no not on a budget but my willy is big enough that i dont need to buy the latest of everything just to tell people about it.
*EDIT, Should have said 6900xt
