CEO of AMD, asserts that the Ryzen 7000 launch would not be bothered by supply concerns

AMD has officially announced the Zen 4-powered Ryzen 7000 processors. They'll be available on September 27, but as with so many new product launches, particularly from AMD, there will be supply concerns.

AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su has promised fans that there would be plenty of CPUs available at launch. Lisa Su answered a question at the event about the industry's current supply chain challenges and whether this would result in a limited quantity of Ryzen 7000 CPUs being released next month.

“It is true that if we look back 18 months, we had capacity or logistics limitations,” said the CEO. “From an AMD point of view, we have dramatically increased our manufacturing capacity , in terms of wafers, substrates and back-ends. So with our release of Zen 4 we don't expect to have any restrictions on supplies."

"Logistically, things are taking a little longer to get to different regions right now, which is why we have this event at the end of August and will go on sale on September 27; one of the reasons for that time, frankly, is to get the product to all regions so that people who really want to buy can do so."

The four Ryzen 7000 processors will be released on September 27, with the top of the range leading the way, the Ryzen 9 7950X (16 cores/12 threads) for $699, the Ryzen 9 7900X (12 cores/24 threads) for $549, the Ryzen 7700X (8-core/16-thread) for $399, and the Ryzen 5 7600X (6-core/12-thread) for $299.

With lower demand and higher cost of ownership for the new platform (CPU needs new motherboard and memory)in these months, we believe AMD will be able to provide CPUs to the entire market; also the market is not in a favorable place.

If you were an enthusiast, you have been buying new platforms every upgrade cycle. I can't remember the last time I upgraded in-socket. Probably X58. RAM was the only thing that carried over, and even then, if you were a regular Joe, you'd likely upgrade once every RAM cycle anyway.

Maybe he`s an enthusiast on a budget.

Not everyone can or wants to buy a new platform everytime a new CPU is released.

In my case, i would love to buy a better CPU if i could use it on my current MB, because there`s nothing i need from newer platforms.

Scalpers still gonna try to cause problems.

The situation is different this time, so i don`t think scalpers are going to be an issue this time, but i could be wrong.

I will wait for reviews and prices here. If it was for onoy mobo and cpu, the. Probably would have upgraded, but ddr5 is still expensive, so there is that. Last time I went from LGA1151 to AM4, now maybe will go on AM5 as early as 2023

I always sell my old rig to fund the new one. Otherwise I'd have a stack of used CPU's lying around. I can't remember the last time I dropped a new CPU into an existing platform.....especially seeing as CPU's outlast most other parts of the system. By the time I need a new CPU, I'd hazard I'd need a new system as well.

Scalpers are always trying to scalp anything sinch ps3 launch in electronics. Mining or pandemic.

So i still have concern since Ryzen has a lot of attention now and desire to have.

Was that directed at me, well ive been building custom PCs since AMD xp1600 and using fish pond pumps and a car radiator for a waterloop, ive built rigs using components from Intel, AMD and Intel but just buying each new release isnt what is required to be classed as an enthusiast. I recently built a scratch build open WCed case using an i7 2700k and a 7800gtx using wood and aluminium angle.
Budget isnt a issue for me, the logistics of buying hardware is for geographical reasons.
Throwing money at every new iteration of the same technology doesnt mean you are an enthusiast, it may mean the opposite in fact,
