Bullet Train Unreal Engine 4 Demo
Check out this latest VR experience from Epic Games featured on the Oculus Connect 2.
Bullet Train is the latest VR experience from Epic Games, creators of the popular Showdown VR demo. Staying true to form, Epic puts you in the middle of the action: Use motion controls in the role of an agent undergoing an infiltration simulation set inside a modern train station. Master the art of teleportation, time manipulation, and close-quarters combat to blast through resistance forces. Thanks to Unreal Engine technology and the Oculus Touch motion controllers, you can physically interact with an array of weapons, from guns to grenades to missiles, and even feel them through haptic feedback.

I don't think it was designed to be challenging but to showcase VR in general and with UE.
I guess that would be quite an experience when done through VR, but it doesn't look very precise to me, not much skill or challenge - so while it looks quite cool the gameplay looks uninteresting. I wonder if this might be an inherent limitation of VR, I wonder if gameplay mechanics, precision & skill would ever be on the same level as mouse & keyboard when talking about first person shooters.

Yes, I get that, and you're right, but I'm also wondering if VR will ever be able to deliver the same precision & skill that exists with mouse & keyboard in the first person shooter arena - I have my doubts - which would make it a bland experience. I also wonder travel through the environment might be limited within VR - like could you ever have a VR version of the game Titanfall say.

How are they interacting with the game? A controller or hand gestures? I would imagine comparing VR to mouse and keyboard is like comparing Apples and Oranges.
Some games are better with a controller, some with a mouse and keyboard, maybe VR will fill another void.

Yes, I think VR will be better suited to some games rather than others, although they did choose to show a first person shooter version of their VR here - that's why I'm comparing it with mouse keyboard because that's currently the best way to play an fps. I don't think VR is particularly suited to the classic fps genre.
