Both Custom and Founder Graphics GeForce 3000 cards Launch Simultaneously
As the topic title says, word out on the cyber street is that custom (AIB) and NVIDIA Founder Graphics GeForce 3000 cards would launch simultaneously.
It has to be stated that this is based on chatter on the web, so take the news with a bit of care. Historically NVIDIA has been launching founder cards first, and then a few weeks later the AIB/AIC's (board partners) could launch their revised models with all the improvements they added. It's, however not confirmed.
From the looks of things we'll get a bit of a teaser on August the 31st, official announcements on September the 9th, the 17th the actual release. It has to be stated though, it's NVIDIA and just based on all the media news with semi-confirmed launch dates, for kicks and giggles they could just shuffle it up a little here and there.
Since we now have three dates I could throw in another argument, August the 31st announcements, September the 9th release and founder card reviews and the 17th AIB availability. That's just a thought though. But it is safe to say that early September you all get to learn all you want to know about the new Ampere based graphics cards.

My biggest question/speculation is if nvidia will release the 3080Ti (or w/e they will call it) at the start, like they did with the 2080Ti, or wait till next year in case AMD has a good high-end card coming this fall. I so don't want to get burned by getting the top card now and have it outdated 6 months later (at likely the same-ish price)...

NVidia knows well they have to get their new cards out months before both AMD and PS5 competition. They might be in trouble after they come out, price wise.

If that is actually the case, Nvidia will not benefit fom my wallet this go-around.
I'll never pay $700 for a 3070 anything...which is the category I tend to shop.
$600 is the absolute maximum I'd ever pay for any mid-range graphics card...from Nvidia or AMD.
I could give a RA's about RTX.
I do simracing and all I want, is the fastest gameplay with the biggest grid of cars.

If anything, I'd say having availability in October is a good thing. Buying something immediately tends to result in disappointment, even if you wait for reviews. That way you can see how much a product has matured. AMD has a tendency to shoot themselves in the foot on release day by having sub-par (if not outright bad) drivers, but when given enough time for patches, they start to get much more competitive.
