Christmas Pun - Jen-Hsun Huang will become new Intel CEO - NV merges with Intel

Christmas Pun - Jen-Hsun Huang will become new Intel CEO - NV merges with Intel

A new crazy rumor that Intel and NVIDIA are in talks about future developments, cross licensing and potentially even a merger between the two companies. Last decade both Intel and AMD tried to acquire NVIDIA, but these acquisition talks failed because Huang insisted on becoming the CEO of the new entity. With Intel CEO Paul Otellini retiring in May, some Intel board members reportedly feel that the chip giant needs an outsider with a fresh perspective, and perhaps Huang is just the right man with the vision to propel Intel into the future.

This time around, our sources have said that Intel did not categorically say no to one of requirements, should Nvidia be acquired - and that is that the CEO of Nvidia and the senior management take over the respectable roles in the new entity, regardless of the entity size. Remember that this requirement sunk the finalization of Nvidia-AMD tie up in 2005, which in turn ended with AMD paying $5.9 billion for ATI Technologies.

Bear in mind that Intel's BoD announced that for the first time in history, the company is considering an external person for the role of CEO, as the investors feel that the company hasn't done enough in the mobile segment. Naturally, investors in general don't have a clue how semiconductor companies work and make profit, since for every smartphone there is a high revenue chip that delivers the service - but the Street wants to see companies battling for pennies on the dollar. As the old credo goes - What The Street wants, The Street Gets - and Intel is now entering the pennies (SoC) versus dollar (Enterprise CPUs) market in terms of profits.

Wow! this is dream come true! omg the possibilities are endless! hahahahaha! this is why i stick to nvidia in the a way i know the company will last long and only grow stronger unlike amd "puke" hehehe. we might see some powerful APU's down the road whooping amd over and over again that never gets old. sorry amd fanboy's looks like nvidia owns this one.
What are you? Twelve?

Anyway... if AMD/ATi go out of business, maybe they'll be a couple years of good stuff, but after that... if you think that a monopoly is going to be a good thing in the long run, you're going to have a bad time.

it will not be a problem for AMD, in reality it will benefit to AMD, specially on GPU side. because if any merge of Intel + Nvidia happend, the only result will be the end of Nvidia .

- CUDA: intel will bring full compatibility with CPU and so rewrite it completely.. as Intel cant do anyting in x86 they will need bring the code to AMD too,

- PhysX? will be included in havoc and rewrited for include full optimisation for CPU, and so benefit to AMD as Intel will absolutely have no choice to share the library, code etc with them.

- GPGPU board ? will disapear for profit Phy- Xeon board ( maybe a mix between them ) and this will profit too on AMD side.. as software will need to be usable by AMD too.

If it become a monopoly, Intel need absolutely give the access to the library/code/instructions to AMD ( as it is for SSEE 4 and other x86 instructions ) for balance the market or Intel will face a situation where their acts push the market to use only Intel. ( and we know what is doing the USA FTC when this is happening ( They dissolve the company in multiple little pieces and sold them for bring competition back ) .. Conclusion, if Nvidia merge with intel, Nvidia disappear. Its why MS own a contract who permit them to take the control of nvidia at any time if a company try to buy Nvidia.

lol this guy makes me laugh. So your saying you get a current nvidia card because you know the company will be better int he future??? how does getting any branded card make it better in the future, your still going to have to upgrade to a new model....your a moron.

Competition is sorely needed in the computer market so intel whooping AMDs ass all the time isn't the best thing for consumers.

Nvidia doesnt own anything besides nvidia now stfu.

As far as intel whooping amd ass Intel been doing it for a while now and amd has nothing to counter intels offering interms of raw power and guess what amd's been taking it on the ass since intel core 2 duo came out ;) from there they where never gain superiority over intel.
