Benchmark Results Radeon RX 6800 XT Show Good RT scores and Excellent Time Spy GPU score

Benchmark Results Radeon RX 6800 XT Show Good RT scores and Excellent Time Spy GPU score

We've seen AMD post some numbers already showing that we can expect raytracing performance at a GeForce RTX 3070 level with the new 6800 XT. However, the first user based benchmarks are now surfacing as well.

A Twitterer called PC_Lab_UH, who appears to work at a tech site called Uniko's Hardware, has tested the Radeon RX 6800 with

the Shadow of the Tomb Raider benchmark and built-in ray tracing option (RT shadows only). He manages to achieve 46 frames per second and 80 fps at 4K and WQHD with ray tracing turned on. That is about as fast as the RTX 3070 with ray tracing, however, with DLSS on. So if you filter out the performance benefit froM DLSS, that's not bad, really.

The same user has also published a Time Spy result. The RX 6800 would achieve 12,704 points with a (relatively weak for enthusiast-class GPUs) Ryzen 5 3500X. More important is the graphics score, 16,775 points (a solid score) at 3080 / 3090 performance level scores. The GPU would have consumed about 250 to 280 watts at these tests.

If AMD RT performance matches Nvidia + DLSS performance, then I would say that is already pushing towards a win in their first gen RT implementation.

Now we just need to know when and how will the "super resolution" tech work which is supposedly offer similar results as DLSS, hopefully.

The second benchmark screenshot shows GPU utilization at 73% - CPU bottleneck at 1440p? As said in the article, 3500 is not much of an enthusiast CPU, but still a bottleneck at 1440p...
