Battlefield 1 DLC Maps To Become Free?
EA will soon make all previously-released DLC Maps for Battlefield 1 free. DICE is looking to make all previously-released multiplayer maps free for everyone and an official announcement is expected later today.
The information is based on this post on Reddit. “Beginning in July, all players will have the opportunity to play on previously-released DLC maps,” reads an in-game notification, but does not mention any specific date.
While the downloadable content going free is certainly great news, it does question the value of purchasing the Premium Pass. Several suggestions have been floating about to compensate those who went ahead and paid for all upcoming content in advance. With DICE already acting on one feedback, there should already be plans in the pipelines to add some bling to the Premium Pass as well.

Very good, no more fragmented player base.
Although i don't see why they should compensate anybody who bought a season pass, why reward stupidity, caveat emptor.
You get to play BF1 because of all those stupid people who paid full price for previous BF games.
I call it: "Supporting good product."
And btw, thanks for calling me stupid as I got full package as always.

Fragmented player base or not, they will lose out on season passes and premium if they make this a normal thing to give the maps away for free. There's no reason to buy premium / season passes now anymore for BF games.
I guess that's why they try to make the Battlefront 2 loot box system p2w now, so they don't miss out on the money they cost themselves

My guess is that BF1 isn't selling as well as they had hoped so they are doing this to get some more sales.
Heck I'm a hardcore Battlefield nut and I didn't get BF1... still not interested :/

There are not making maps free for everyone. They are launching "Premium Trials" which was announced a few weeks back. In short, they're allowing non-premium buyers to access premium content during predefined timeframes. Kinda like 2XP events.

This is how I got BF4. When maps became free, bought the single game for 8,99€. Now I think it's time to get the BF1, too. Let me check the price first. I won't be paying more than 15€.
