Autonomous Las Vegas Shuttle Bus involved in Accident within an hour

Autonomous Las Vegas Shuttle Bus involved in Accident within an hour

An autonomous van on the streets of Las Vegas collided with a truck within an hour of introduction. The van was supposed to drive through downtown Las Vegas and can hold eight people.

The damage was limited and no one was injured, reports the local news channel KSNV. According to a passenger, the bus stopped when a truck began to drive backward. The software does not seem to be clever enough to drive back a bit but froze until the back of the truck hit the bumper of the van.

According to a spokesman for the Las Vegas municipality, "the shuttle did what he had to do": halt when at risk. "If the truck had the same sensors as the shuttle, the accident would not have occurred."

The test with will continue next year.

automonous driving will fail hard just like VR. just too many limitations in AI still. Don't get me started on "AI" either....

lol.

It would also have been avoided if the bus had the same sensors as the truck. A pair of human eyes.

If I'm relying on an auto manufacturer's logic to drive me around, they better be the one paying the insurance bill!

So the human that crashed into another vehicle is superior, because that vehicle actually did nothing wrong and did not adhere to some truck driver's tantrum?
Interesting. Maybe self driving cars should be armed and "angry". Seems to be one of the rare things that human drivers understand perfectly.

edit: jokes aside, it would have been avoided if the human in the truck adhered to the law and did not crash into the bus.
