High refresh rate monitors are nothing new, especially when it comes to the eSports industry. However, AUO plans to push the industry to the next level and is already developing a new panel capable of running at an astounding 540 Hz.

The company intends to launch its new range of gadgets concurrently with the release of NVIDIA's RTX 40 GPUs, which will be the only ones capable of exploiting the full potential of the new monitors. According to MyDrivers, the media disseminating the news, not even the powerful RTX 3090 Ti would be able to provide a performance higher than 350 FPS in today's most popular eSports titles.

According to the website, this performance was attained by combining the GPU with an Intel Core i9-12900K processor and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. Only ASUS now offers a 500Hz refresh rate monitor as part of a collaboration with NVIDIA.

The visual impact provided by high-speed refresh may be preferable for players, however high-speed refresh of hundreds of Hz has significant platform performance requirements. Some individuals have previously tested 500Hz high-speed displays with Core i9-12900K and 32GB DDR5. The game PC, which includes memory and an RTX 3090 graphics card, has been tested. Even with the lowest picture quality enabled, the frame rate at FHD resolution is just 343 frames per second. In short, even with a 540Hz high-brush gaming display, achieving this performance is quite tough.

AUO does not support many items that have high refresh rates. The company recently announced the development of a 4K display with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 2K (1440p) display with a 360Hz refresh rate, both of which promise to give a superior cost-performance ratio than options such as Samsung's Neo G8 Odyssey. During SID Display Week 2022, which took place in early May, the business showed a 480Hz gaming display design. High refresh rate devices are highly popular in esports since they enable professional gamers to respond fast to threats, enhancing their performance. Acer Display Technology and Unipac Optoelectronic merged to form AUO, or AU Optronics, in September 2001.
