AU Optronics Significantly Increases production of high-end panels, also 8K
A huge Display panel maker which panels end up in many HDTVs and Monitors is AU Optronics, and they are increasing its production of high-end panels significantly to maintain its sales momentum and profits, according to company sources., these include ultra-large screens, 4k panels, gaming panels and ltps notebook panels.
The company's shipments of ultra-large panels, including 75- and 85-inch models, hit a record high in the first quarter of 2018 and also tripled from the same period of a year earlier, sources from Digitimes noted:
Anticipating the penetration rate of 4K TVs will likely increase to 40% in 2018 from 30% a year earlier, AUO expects the shipment ratio of 4K panels to its total TV panel shipments to further expand by year-end 2018, up from 50% in the first quarter.
AUO will also begin to ship 8K TV panels in the first half of 2018. AUO will also maintain its top-ranking position in the global gaming panel market in 2018 leveraging its leading technology in the development of 240Hz, 4K and 65-inch gaming panels. The company's gaming panel clients include Acer, Asustek Computer, BenQ, ViewSonic, AOC and Philips, the sources said. Having seen its shipments of LTPS notebook panels in the first quarter of 2018 already surpass those shipped totally a year earlier, sales of LTPS notebook panels should expand exponentially in the year, the sources asserted.
AUO will also begin to ship LTPS panels for production of in-car rearview mirrors in the first half of 2018 with aims to further expand the related technology to other automotive-use panels.

You're describing issues with LCD panels in general, not AUO themselves.

Backlight bleed is something that you wish you didn't see. Most people don't TRY to see it and have less problems with it.
I've been gaming with cheap Crossover 2795 for years now, still didn't try to find backlight bleed, neither did it catch my attention.
It's like trying to see if your food contains any dust or impurities and stop eating it.
Eventually end up starving to death, since any food contains some amount of dust or impurities.
(Totally irrelevant comparison, but I go with it

AUO doing what ram manufacturers should be doing - Higher demand so we'll increase production instead of higher demand so we'll increase the price

Using the same model. Mine 'only' does 96~100hz before going to shit, though.
When I removed the stand for the VESA mount I'm using I actually made BLB worse than it originally was, since I had to open up the bezel in order to fully remove the stand. The cheap koreans aren't too friendly when it comes to stand removal and stand quality overall. That said, I only notice the BLB when the screen is black, which seldom happens. Usually only during loading screens. During movies or actual gameplay I don't notice it at all. Then again, it's not the most atrocious of BLB I've ever seen to begin with

The real hilarious thing however, rather than what @Denial brought up, is that the current domestic offers and their QA isn't much, if any better than our koreans. The koreans only cost around a third to a half of domestic offers, though

Granted, most panels back then came without adaptive sync but I'm mostly running the frame cap anyway and even if I lock at 60 FPS I don't run into massive tearing.
Generally speaking it's been the best purchase I've made in years overall. I sorta hope for cheap koreans once 4K becomes more mainstream but I think their glory times are over.

Wish they'd focus on making 1080p/QHD/4K panels that aren't trash instead of 8K. I've owned 6 AU Optronics panels over the course of 8 years that have had horrible levels of backlight bleed.
It's seriously a joke that I'm spending upwards of $1000+ on a 27"+ monitor and the uniformity/QC is absolute garbage. I partially blame Nvidia for not stepping in and ensuring the panels meet a specific requirement to be labeled G-Sync, especially when G-Sync offers me nothing now over Freesync, arguably hampering my ability to buy a monitor.
