ATI Radeon HD 5800 might drop in price
More and more rumours pop up on the web that ATI might be lowering it's prices on the Radeon HD 5800 series. Though NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 400 launch was shaky to say at the best ATI still faces the issue that a lot of people are going to buy it anyway. ATI seems to be willing to lower it's prices, but is looking sharp at NVIDIA in terms of how many cards they actually have available.
ATI's prices have been too high. The Radeon HD 5870 was in fact launched at 399 USD, but quickly rose (artificially) to 470 USE because there was no competition. Currently you can purchase a Radeon HD 5870 for $414.99 (cheapest one we found). The more common price is $439.99.
AIBs will be the ones lowering their prices .. we don't expect it will be dropped a lot though.
