ATI preps Radeon HD 4790 Based on RV790

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 06/16/2009 09:18 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Guru3D.com ImageIt looks like camp ATI is never pausing .. AMD seems to be preparing yet another  performance-mainstream Radeon HD 4000 series of products, the RadeoN HD 4790.

Again an reconfiguration of the specifications creating an product that would performs better than the Radeon HD 4770 likely better than HD 4850 but slower than a 4890.

The specs for this product seem to be 600 MHz, 800 shaders processors are to be found in the RV790 based GPU. Now here's the real trick, it will have a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. It handles 512 MB of memory clocked at 800 MHz (3200 MHz effective). Being based on the RV790, it is pin-compatible with any existing HD 4890 PCB.

Price-wise well ... expected to see something in-between the HD 4850 and HD 4870.
