ASUS unveiled the first custom Radeon RX 7900-series cards, despite the fact that AMD's recently announced graphics cards will not be available for purchase for at least another month. TUF Gaming's Radeon 7900 XT and, not unexpectedly, the Radeon 7900 XTX are the two cards in question.

The TUF cards appear to be taller than the AMD reference designs, as ASUS has opted for what it dubs a 3.63-slot architecture.  ASUS claims to have increased the total heat dissipation surface by 22.8% and put bigger vents on the backplate to help boost airflow, though it did not demonstrate the back of its cards. There are three 8-pin power connectors on the TUF Gaming Radeon RX 7900 XTX, and it uses a 17+4 power stage layout. ASUS TUF cards, unlike AMD's reference cards, will only have three DisplayPort 2.1 connections and one HDMI 2.1 port rather than a USB-C port on the rear.

A new cooling design empowers the GPU to run at full throttle. We widened the vent on the backplate to open up even more room for airflow. We’ve increased total heat dissipation area by a full 22.8%, and an expanded opening along the edge of the backplate allows even more air to flow through the fins from the Axial-tech fans.

Speaking of the fans, they’re both larger and more effective for this generation. They provide 13.8% more airflow and 8% more static pressure compared to last gen, all the while spinning at lower RPMs and producing a similarly low amount of noise. A Dual BIOS switch lets you choose between performance and quiet modes. We do not know what ASUS's clock speeds are.
