ASUS has announced that their servers will support the newest 3rd generation AMD EPYC CPUs with AMD 3D V-Cache technology. Product lines have been announced to speed essential computing workloads and foster data center innovation.

ASUS has also established itself as the performance leader, now ranking first in the SPEC CPU 2017 and SPECjbb 2015 benchmarks on SPEC.org - ASUS serversTaking advantage of 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache, ASUS achieved top scores in 14 of the 16 SPEC CPU 2017 benchmark metrics.

In particular, an ASUS RS720A-E11 server equipped with two AMD EPYC 7773X processors – the most powerful processors in this processor series – achieved a world record of 745 points in the SPECrate®2017_fp_base. Equipped with an AMD EPYC 7773X processor, the RS520A-E11 stablemate server achieved a record-breaking 374 points in the SPECrate®2017_fp_base. ASUS also achieved three top results in the SPECjbb 2015 (Composite/MultiJVM) benchmarks for Java server performance with the RS700A-E11-RS12U with dual 7773X processors. The results show

Free BIOS update enables compatibility for the entire ASUS server portfolio
ASUS offers both dual-socket RS720A and RS700A series servers and single-socket RS520A and RS500A series servers to support the new 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processor line, with TDP options from 240W to 280 W and 16 to 64 cores - and all with the latest 768 MB L3 cache. The GPU servers offered by ASUS, such as the ESC8000A and ESC4000A series, which support four to eight dual-slot AMD Instinct™ accelerators, Xilinx FPGA accelerator cards and NVIDIA GPUs, are also compatible with the new processor and can do so Optimized for AI, deep learning, and HPC workloads. All models are ready to go with a simple BIOS update and offer all the features of the latest 3rd generation AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache. This ensures improved and consistent performance as well as compatibility with the latest AMD platforms.

The most powerful processors in the world for technical calculations
The AMD EPYC 7003 series processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology triple the available L3 cache to 768 MB per socket compared to the EPYC 7003 series without 3D stacking. This enables faster results on certain workloads such as EDA, CFD and FEA software and solutions while providing socket compatibility with existing AMD EPYC 7003 platforms.
By increasing the L3 cache, which has lower latency and is closer to the processor core than main memory, the latest EPYC 7003 series processors with AMD 3D V-Cache use the same shared memory architecture as the rest of the EPYC family the third generation. This means customers can now take advantage of up to 96MB of L3 cache per CCD without sacrificing performance, even on lower core count and mainstream processors.
