The new ROG Thor series of power supplies includes the new ROG Thor 1000W Platinum II several further developments that make the premium power supplies even better.

Republic of Gamers has made a name for itself by manufacturing PC components for users who expect uncompromised performance at the forefront of technology. The new ROG Thor 1000W Platinum II was developed for these demanding enthusiasts. It uses Japanese low-ESR capacitors to ensure efficient operation. These upgrades enable 80 PLUS Platinum certification, which guarantees 89% efficiency at 100% load and 92% at 50% load. The higher efficiency leads to less heat generation, reduced fan noise and increased reliability.

Heat is the nemesis for a power supply when it needs to deliver stable capacity over an extended period of time. Therefore, ultimately, the lifespan of a power supply can be limited by component degradation or failure. A highly efficient power supply generates less heat to begin with, so the ROG Thor 1000W Platinum II enjoys an inherent advantage in this regard. This advantage is underlined with a comprehensive cooling design. Large ROG heatsinks are the foundation of this approach. They help cool the sensitive ICs and components inside with more volume and surface area than average, thus extending the life of these heat-sensitive parts.

When the load increases and the components in the ROG Thor 1600W, 1200W, and 1000W models heat up, cooling air flows through a new 135mm fan with the latest Axial-Tech design, first seen on ROG Strix graphics cards used. Highly curved blades, a compact fan hub, and an outer locking ring increase airflow at a given RPM without increasing noise levels.

This careful consideration of cooling components allows the new ROG Thor family's Thor 1000W Platinum II to achieve Lambda A++ certification - the most stringent noise standard set by independent testing company Cybenetics. To meet this standard, the power supplies must generate less than 15 dBA during the Cybenetics testing process. By meeting this stringent value, ROG Thor 1000W Platinum II secures a unique market position as one of the quietest PSUs of its kind.

Just like graphics cards, fans can be turned off completely at low loads to minimize idle noise. Thanks to the PWM control, the fans can be operated in a wider speed range to better respond to temperature changes, and double ball bearings ensure a longer lifespan of the fans. Thanks to the robust construction and comprehensive cooling design, the core components of these power supplies are guaranteed for 10 years for worry-free operation. *

(*Core product operation is guaranteed for 10 years. OLED panel and RGB LEDs are guaranteed for 3 years.)

ROG Thor: For custom designs and modular builds

The ROG Thor series is not only designed to deliver clean and reliable power in large quantities, but they also prepare PCs for the future. The PCI Express® 5.0 standard includes a new high-performance add-on connector that combines 12 conductors into a single cable. To ensure compatibility with components that use this future connector, new ROG Thor power supplies will ship with one. This makes life easier for users who want to use these robust power supplies for the long term. The ROG Thor family impresses with the typical ROG style that wants to be presented. The hallmark is the OLED power display, which is even more eye-catching than the outer shell of the previous generation. The display allows Assess system power consumption at a glance to see if the PSU is nearing its limit or if an idle program or component is using more power than expected. The addressable Aura RGB LED lighting, which shines through the iconic logo, leaves no doubt about the ROG heritage. In addition, Aura Sync can be used to seamlessly integrate lighting with the rest of a system's color or animation scheme.

In keeping with the philosophy of total system control, the ROG Thor series uses fully modular cabling with an exclusive cable design for the primary cables. This approach allows the designer to use only the cables needed for better airflow and a clean look inside the case. The proprietary wiring design matches the custom sleeved cables that typify the creative vision of custom builders.

ROG Thor series

The new ROG Thor Platinum II power supply series equips users for the future and offers unprecedented efficiency. These efficient 850W, 1000W, 1200W 80 PLUS Platinum PSUs and 1600W 80 PLUS Titanium PSUs feature adaptive fans that adjust to the task at hand. Their new outer casings feature a new OLED display, and Aura RGB LED lighting adds a bold pop of color that can be coordinated with the rest of a system's lighting scheme using Aura Sync. These refinements enhance an already impressive range of power supplies for users looking to scale their power capacity to a wider range of systems. The devices are backed by a comprehensive 10-year warranty on their core components.
