ASUS ROG G46VW 14-inch gaming laptop
More news from ASUS today as they launch the G46VW, the G46VW is a new 14" ROG G-series gaming laptop with Intel Ivy Bridge Core i7 processors and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M graphics. The press release is copied below, but there's no word whether this is a Windows 7 or 8 system.
The ASUS ROG G46VW finally brings genuine game-driving power to the compact and portable 14” segment. Endowed with every advantage offered by other ROG gaming notebooks, it embeds 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7 processors, discrete NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M graphics, NVIDIA® Optimus™ technology for long battery life, and extra-fast data transfers with Intel® Thunderbolt™. Advanced ROG engineering achieves unmitigated performance in a very transportable and light product. The G46VW keeps the powerful rear-venting dual-exhaust thermal design of fellow G Series notebooks, running cool and quiet. It offers gamers superior comfort and input ergonomics, maintaining renowned eye-catching G Series aesthetics. For customers who demand true mobility without having to forego performance gaming, the G46VW presents an ideal proposition.
High-end mobile gaming performance
The G46VW offers a much thinner and lighter form factor without sacrificing performance. As a true full-spec ROG gaming notebook, it includes 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7 processors and enthusiast-level NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M graphics with 2GB GDDR5 video memory. NVIDIA® Optimus™ technology enables up to six hours of battery life, with instant on 2-second resume and up to 14-day standby, plus automatic file backups. SSD storage and Intel® Thunderbolt™ technology enable faster system performance and data transfers, the latter working at up to 10Gbps. Sophisticated engineering and design make sure all of these fit perfectly in a compact and light portable form.
Intelligent cooling keeps the action going
Similar to its G Series stablemates, the G46VW features dual large rear-venting exhausts, with two fans to provide cool and stable performance. The design ensures greater reliability, pushing heat and noise away from gamers for more pleasant usage. Palm rests and keyboard remain cool to the touch, while the G46VW runs very quiet even under load.
Exciting gamer-focused design and engineering
The G46VW reflects the stealthy but aggressive look of other G Series notebooks. Motifs include sharp lines superimposed with soft-touch and damage-resistant materials, creating a low key but high impact product. For unique looks, it employs a backlit keyboard and an illuminated ROG logo, making it stand out in the dark. The keyboard uses a solid one-piece build, and the touchpad offers responsive gesture detection. In addition to high end gaming, the G46VW accommodates complete multimedia experiences with its premium wide-view anti-glare screen and powerful ASUS-exclusive SonicMaster audio.

Optional Touchscreen
It would be great to have an option of Touch Screen - It would greatly improve Windows 8 interaction;
Hope Asus introduces that concept into ROG as they've tried 3D earlier - at least as an optional feature.
Otherwise, this is a great laptop and a form factor I really like; It's great that Asus maintained the same basic shape while slimming down the system. It's nice that ROG continues its design focus on a system that really focuses on cooling.
