Asus will be launching the 27" PB279Q monitor. This screen is the foolow-up to the popular PB278Q with changes to the spec and features of course. Of particular note is the use of a new 4k resolution (3840 x 2160) AHVA panel from AU Optronics (IPS-type). The screen thankfully supports a full 60Hz refresh rate still and uses a W-LED backlight offering an sRGB colour gamut coverage. In other specs there is a 5ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles, 10-bit colour support (8-bit+FRC)

The design has remained very similar to the older model although the bezel has been trimmed down to 9mm. There is a full range of ergonomic adjustments from the stand including tilt, height, swivel and rotate still. There are DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort and 4x HDMI (yes, 4!) connections provided. The HDMI also offer MHL support. PiP (Picture in Picture) and PbP (Picture by Picture) are supported when multiple devices are connected to the screen as well.

According to the press release: "pricing is expected to be clearly under 1000 USD”. A mid to late Q3 release date is the current target, but this may of course change. Further information on price and availability when we have it.
