ASUS Monitors on Display At Computex - Asus VG49V Monitor is seriously wide!

ASUS Monitors on Display At Computex - Asus VG49V Monitor is seriously wide!

We've posted the announcement on the new VG49V Ultra wide and CG32 monitors. But to get you a grasp of how incredibly wide this monitor is, I have some photos to show you directly from the Computex Ground floor.  In this news item, a few photos on that and many other ASUS monitors on display at Computex.

So let me focus on the VG49V and the rest you can watch from photos, if you like things wide, check out the VG49V, this puppy has a 32:9 aspect ratio spread out over a massive 1800R curve 49-inch panel with 144hz refresh rates.

The 4-ms pixel response time ensures objects on the screen look crisp, with minimal ghosting, blurring, and smearing even when they’re zooming by. For an even sharper image, Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) strobes the backlight to achieve a moving-picture response time of just 1 ms.

Strobing requires a fixed refresh rate, so ELMB works at 85, 100, or 120Hz. Devices connect via the VG49V’s DisplayPort 1.2 and dual HDMI 2.0 inputs. This model as well adopts FreeSync with a range of 48 up to 144Hz. Both monitors will probably be available at the end of 2018, pricing is unknown at the time of writing.

That's pretty sweet looking.

And 21:9 support is still iffy as always so this is probably doomed. Two big black bars on each side I assume would be the result of having to go down to 16:9 or have weird scaling if the game in question supports the resolution at all.

I haven't had any issues with my 21:9 3440x1440 Samsung. its these types of monitors where curves make the most sense. Any developer worth his salt supports 21:9 resolutions. Even most older games support the resolution.

Well, i would buy if it would have 3 independent input sources and 3x1080p or 3x1440p mode.. More inputs would be nice too, because i now using 3 monitors, they has bezels, but they also have 12 inputs and i have independent sound bars for each.. so i have 4 independent sound sources.. Could use main computer + 2 consoles or nas / mac mini etc.. at same time.. even more with some HDMI / DP switches hassle..
