Asus MG279Q 144Hz IPS monitor seems to have FreeSync support
The at CES announced Asus MG279Q monitor with 27" screen at WQHD 2560x1440 all of the sudden was added to the AMD list of FreeSync supporting monitors. AMD relays that message through a tweet.
With the tweet AMD welcomes ASUS to the FreeSync supporting monitor line-up, the monitor uses a Displayport 1.2a connector with support for Adaptive sync. But at the announcement time, nobody really had mentioned that. Also the monitor was announced initially as a 120hz screen, this has become a 144Hz model. As far as the dynamic range goes, we heard it starts at 40hz to 144hz.
Spec wise there is little to complain, a 2560 x 1440 resolution with 5ms G2G response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness and 178/178 viewing angles.
Now the bomb-shell, it is a 144Hz IPS panel, it is using the same AUO AHVA panel used in the Acer XB270HU. The screen has a thin bezel design, and comes with DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, 2x HDMI and 1x MHL connections There is also a 2 port USB 3.0 hub embedded.
ASUS initially stated at CES that this model will ship at a retail price of $599 USD.

Some people use more than one card.
Anyway, if the quality control on this screen is anything like the Swift's (or the Acer's), I'm fairly sure there will be some reads in the forums about dead pixels.

as far as i understand there is physical limitation on IPS monitors, and they can't go far beyond 40 fps (36-37 maybe most, bellow that it may be damaged) Gsync is duplicating frames if fps drops bellow that limit, that's why u will see higher range on those monitors, imo Async could go in those ranges with driver update...
but this baby is monitor i've been waiting for years!!!

I'd highly prefer 30hz to 120hz range. 40 Hz minimum is a bit too high and no card would be pushing 144 frames per second at 2560x1440 anyway.
